Open Innovation Playbooks
Planning e execution of Proofs of Concept (PoCs)
This is a initiative created by the FIEMG Lab to support industries and startups on the journey of developing, planning and execution of Proofs of Concept through the open innovation playbook. This material was produced based on the FIEMG Lab team’s experience of following the business development relationship between startups and industries on a massive scale since FIEMG Lab was born in 2016. The purpose of this material is to share with the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem good practices for successfully starting a PoC.

The current technological context favors the connection of industries with new partners to promote innovation and digital transformation in business. This connection offers more competitiveness to the industry and knowledge to startups. This is the first step of a revolution and every revolution involves action planning, which is why FIEMG Lab created the Open Innovation Playbook Vol. 1: Development of Proofs of Concept between Industry – Startup: Planning, to support industries and startups in the journey of efficient development of Proofs of Concept.
Canvas for Proof of Concept Planning
In this material you will have access to our Canvas model to assist in planning PoCs and follow the stages of the process with necessary information to assist in decision making.

Open Innovation in Practice!
Every day, FIEMG Lab accompanies industries and startups in the development of Proofs of Concept (or PoCs). This material is the result of the method we use to support our partner industries on the journey to the future! See a sample of how content can help your innovation area:

In Volume 2 of the open innovation playbook series, we will focus on how we move from planning to action. The execution of a Proof of Concept needs to have a method and rhythm to provide collection of important information, establish activities to advance the PoC, maintain clarity and alignment on the objectives and problems that we are going to tackle, as well as offering tools that facilitate documentation and management of the deliverables, defined in the scope of the PoC. We will go through all the points of attention for following your Proof of Concept.
Spreadsheet and Dashboard to monitor the evolution of Proofs of Concept
We provide the configured and editable spreadsheet with all the necessary data. This spreadsheet will help align actions and communication between startups and industry, mitigating failures and delays.

Open Innovation with a focus on testing and learning!
It is important to pay attention to the Proof of Concept Execution stage because, in addition to requiring alignment between startup and industry, this is when you also need to observe data to validate – or invalidate – the hypotheses raised during the planning stage. These are the main questions that permeate the execution of Proofs of Concept between startups and industries:
